The 601 Blue Label Maduro is Espinosa’s declaration in the maduro arena, and one of the most decorated cigars the brand has made — a 94 rating and Cigar Aficionado’s No. 6 cigar of 2009. An especially dark, oily and toothy Connecticut Broadleaf maduro wrapper is drawn over a Nicaraguan Habano binder and aged Cuban-seed Nicaraguan long fillers, then lightly box-pressed. Near full-bodied but built for flavor rather than strength: sweet earth, black pepper, oak, dark cocoa, mocha and stone fruit through a long finish. Rolled at A.J. Fernandez’s San Lotano factory in Ocotal, Nicaragua.
The 5½” x 52 box-pressed robusto — the size the line is best known for.
